Throughout the centuries, thought leaders have alluded to the possibility that success, just like any other thing, can be attracted into one’s life simply by thinking and doing. In her timeless 1940 novel, The Secret Door to Success, new thought author and metaphysical writer Florence Scovel Shinn suggests that “Success is not a secret, it is a system.”
We give validity to this premise as we create a plan or set a goal for ourselves. Goals are set to be achieved, and achievement paves the way for one to feel successful. So could it be said that success is a planned journey?
Just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder, success is subjective to the person who seeks to obtain it. It is a part of our DNA to desire some form of success. For some, success means wealth. To others, success is having complete health. And then, for a small group of individuals, success may be getting out of bed on time each day. No matter what the extent of success may be to someone, there is always another who feels differently.
Should you be on the seemingly “losing” end of success, here are three actions you can implement starting today to begin attracting success into your life.
1. Visualize yourself as a success.
The human mind is a fortress of power. We have the innate capability to think a thing into existence. Think about it: When was the last time you felt like a success? Was it when you scored that huge contract? Or when you inspired someone else to do something they were once afraid to do? If you go back to that moment, you may feel a smile spread across your face. In that space in time, success was yours.
You really can feel that way each and every day. All you have to do is focus your energy and actions towards what your image or reality of success is. Whatever you see, whatever you think and whatever you feel is what will show up.
Someone once said that “Actions speak louder than words,” and this statement has proven itself true time and time again. It’s not enough to speak a thing, you must do what it takes to put that thing into action.
Think of one person you see as successful. How do they dress? How do they behave? What do they do with their time every day? If you can, ask them! They could do something as simple as waking up in the morning and taking 15 minutes to read a book on leadership, business or personal development. Whatever it is, try it. This small gesture has the possibility of changing how you view yourself, especially if you start to see and feel a change within your mind and actions as it pertains to being a success in your own eyes.
3. Celebrate the success of others.
What you send out into the world is what you desire to come back to you. When everyone around you seems to be reaching new levels in their career or bringing in more revenue in their businesses than you, success may seem like only a dream.
The good news is that every day you wake up, you have the power to be magnetic and bring good into your space just by being genuinely excited as others progress. There is no need to feel envious. There is enough of everything life has to offer for everyone to have an abundance, and there’d still be some left over. Practice congratulating your co-worker the next time he/she gets a bonus. Start randomly handing out compliments to those around you just to affirm their being. Remember, you are working on attracting success into your space. As you send positive vibes out, they are sure to come back to you sooner rather than later.
